April Project : Read to Me Book Drive

During shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and a couple of Saturdays, throughout April (times to be announced), we will be sorting and placing labels inside the covers of books which have been donated by people all over Abq.  The books are then re-packed into smaller boxes by categories requested by dozens of teachers and learning center directors.  We will be joined by volunteers from other organizations.

Also, members are encouraged to donate new and gently used children's book from now through the middle of May.  Bring them to our weekly meetings and Dave O. or Bart Regelbrugge will collect them.

Diane Stearley has almost filled the schedule for workers at Daffodil Days.

Our assigned Daffodil Days Sales location is Sam's Club on Eubank and I-40.

The shifts are Friday, March 16th from 10am to 6pm and Sat., March 17th from 9am to 5pm.

Les Storhaug takes a rare breather as his plan for new planter boxes at KLG became a reality.  Cirrelda,  in the red hat in background, was the Facilitator as always.  The group photo of Kiwanians who lifted, levelled, drilled, bolted, etc will likely be mailed to me in the next few days.

Our Work Project for January provided 60 backpacks to families in the Manzano Mesa area. The work took less than an hour, and was a real pleasure with so many workers - our entire lunch crowd !

The Six Permanent Objects of Kiwanis

Object 1: To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
Object 2: To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
Object 3: To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards.
Object 4: To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
Object 5: To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities.
Object 6: To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will.
