October 17, 2017.  Manzano HS Key Club Meeting, 14 students present

Manzano Key Club started right on time!   Membership dues are due October 24.  The club voted to cover dues this year for students who worked Balloon Fiesta and the Renaissance Fair!

Manzano Key Club is very active!  They are volunteering for a Food Bank at Manzano HS on November 18, they are supporting UNICEF by collecting money in boxes for Tetanus shots for Young Mothers in developing countries, they sent two students to Senate meeting on campus, they will support the Spanish Honor Society on their Color Run on October 27 to raise money for Mexico City for hurricane relief, and they are considering whether to create a Booth at the Manzano Halloween Carnival.  They have been asked to cover child care for one hour at the Cerebral Palsy Parent Association board meeting held once a month at UNM Children’s Hospital.  They were debating whether to put together a group of students for that meeting. Needed further thought.

The Manzano Mesa K Kids election of officers generated a lot of impassioned speeches and an all-new slate of 4th and 5th grade leaders for 2017-18.  Club membership is approx. 22 members, and their first project has been to select Inspirational Messages to read over the intercom each morning following the Pledge.  No one is taking a knee at MMES  !!
