CC sends gratitude for KCA’s support

At the end of August, I received the news from Susan Jennings that the Board had indeed approved my application for charitable funding from KCA to create a new program.  It will support the mission of Kiwanis in the community in a very visible and productive way. Every Wednesday, preschools are invited to experience outdoor learning in the Kiwanis Learning Garden without charge.

“Kiwanis Garden Discovery for Preschools’ offers a full morning program to preschools and child care programs, with garden themes of soil, seeds, pollination, and photosynthesis. These themes are updated monthly.  By offering this free program to preschools and day cares, from Head Start to City and State, Religious and Private, it is our hope that many children normally not receiving such a program will get to come.

Ongoing Projects

The Kiwanis Learning Garden is located in Old Town, at the apex formed by the entrances to the NM Museum of Natural History and Explora.  More info will be found on different pages of our site in the future.

This plaque at the Kiwanis Learning Garden in Old Town recognizes the original effort by Kay Ballinger and Mike Williams to implement Steve Schroeder's 1998 Presidential Project.  A review of the history and extraordinary benefits derived from the Garden were presented to SWD Gov. Iafratto prior to the Division 2 luncheon on May 20.
