We will help Process Donations to the 16th Annual

"Read to Me Albuquerque" Book Drive

There are three major tasks to be accomplished during our April Work Project. Sign up for one or many; bring your friends and anyone who “needs to get out”, loves books, or who really should become a member of our club!!

1.  With your larger vehicles, between April 5 - 21pick up boxes full of books and deliver them to the Transit Building at 604 Yale SE (3 short blocks south of Coal Ave).  If you volunteer for this task, you will be assigned up to (5) businesses or government offices from which to collect the boxes. This may require some moderate lifting, but we will be urging the collectors to provide help getting the books to your vehicle.  And, you might want to recruit a strong friend and navigator to help you!

2.  During 9.30-Noon shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays between April 9 - April 28we will be sorting and placing labels inside the covers of hundreds of books which have been donated by people all over Abq.  The books are then packed into smaller boxes according to categories requested by dozens of Principles and Learning Center directors.  We will be joined by volunteers from other organizations.

>>Watch for the Web-based sign-up link<<

3.  Drivers will again be distributing boxes of books to APS Title 1 elementary and mid-schools between April 16-May 18 (the last full week of school before summer recess).

Also, members are encouraged to solicit and donate GENTLY USED children's book from now through the middle of May.  Bring them to our weekly meetings and Dave O. or Bart Regelbrugge will collect them.

~ Thank YOU for your consideration ! ~

Organized in 1917, the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque is the oldest Kiwanis Club in New Mexico. We support our community through the Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit corporation.

Find out more about how Kiwanis serves our community. Join us each Monday at Noon at the MCM Eleganté Hotel Albuquerque. 2020 Menaul Blvd. NE (just east of University).

The Six Permanent Objects of Kiwanis

Object 1: To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
Object 2: To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
Object 3: To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards.
Object 4: To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
Object 5: To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities.
Object 6: To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and good will.
